AUGUST TO-DO LIST FOR JUNIORS

#1. THE COMMON APP IS OPEN!

On August 1, the Common Application opens. The sooner you go through and fill out the main part of the application, get your main Common App essay uploaded, and get a sneak peak into supplements of schools you are planning to apply to, the better. We feel that you should definitely be done with the essay and the main part of the application before you go back to school.

#2. FINALIZE YOUR SCHOOL LIST

You’ve had the summer to check out the schools you think you’re interested in, and now you are ready to make your list final and begin applying! Remember, try to choose no less than 5 and no more than 9 schools. Be sure to give yourself options, but don’t overwhelm yourself with applications.

#3. CHOOSE FALL TEST DATES

Make sure you have chosen SAT and/or ACT dates for the fall. Sign up now to ensure you have a spot, and also so you don’t forget once school gets started and things get hectic.

#4. CONTINUE STUDYING FOR SAT AND/OR ACT

Practice a little bit every day for the fall test(s) you are taking. Everyday practice guarantees no cramming for the test, which ups your chances of success.

#5. ENJOY SUMMER

While there are a lot of things you need to work on for college prep, it is also important that you still find time to enjoy yourself. Soak up the next few weeks of summer and get ready for a great senior year!
